The Local SEO Checklist
Work through this in order. Each section builds on the previous one, and together they form the baseline that most local competitors never complete.
Google Business Profile
Claim and verify the profile. Set the correct primary category and all accurate secondary categories. Define your real service areas. Write descriptions for every service. Upload at least twenty photos of actual work. Turn on messaging if you’ll answer. Seed the Q&A with your five most-asked questions.
Website essentials
One dedicated page per core service. Your name, phone, and service area visible on every page. Click-to-call on mobile. Page titles that name the service and area. Load time under three seconds. A clear next step — call or short form — on every page.
Reviews
A consistent post-job review request, by text where possible. A direct review link saved and shared. Responses to every review within a week. A monthly target — even five new reviews a month compounds fast in smaller markets.
Citations and consistency
Identical name, address, and phone on Google, Apple Maps, Bing, Yelp, Facebook, and your industry directories. Old addresses and numbers hunted down and corrected. Duplicate listings merged or removed.
Monthly maintenance
New photos monthly. A post or update weekly. Rankings and calls reviewed against last month. Small, boring, consistent — which is exactly why it wins.
